Myers is a graduate of Samford University where he played on the Samford Bulldogs football team and earned a degree in business management. He was involved in the marketing of the Birmingham Fire in 1991-92. He went on to become director of events for the Alabama Sports Foundation and was named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s list of the “Top 40 Under 40” in 1997. Myers served as general manager of the Birmingham Bulls of the East Coast Hockey League and as a managing partner with the Birmingham Steeldogs, where the team went a combined 44-52, with three playoff appearances in six years. Myers also serves on such community boards as the Birmingham Athletic Partnership, the Bryant-Jordan Student-Athlete Scholarship Foundation, the Homewood Police Foundation, and Samford’s Brock School of Business advisory board. He founded the non-profit TEAM Inc., which works to provide athletic opportunities for at-risk youth.
Myers and his wife, Claire, have three children.
