With less than two years to go until The World Games 2021, the Birmingham Organizing Committee is hard at work preparing a wide variety of elements which will contribute to its success. Although most organizations supporting the event are Birmingham- and U.S.-based, there are two longtime international partners of The World Games who are returning to offer their services: Swiss Timing and International Sports Broadcasting (ISB).
As the premier provider of timing, scoring and accreditation in the large-scale sports event space, Swiss Timing will work with The World Games 2021 to ensure that all time and scores are accurately captured and reported according to the highest possible standards, and that all athletes are correctly registered and credentialed during The Games. Swiss Timing has worked with the highest-profile events in the sports industry, including the Olympic Games.
With a deep history of excellence in broadcast management, ISB delivers images and sound using state-of-the-art technology and equipment in order to provide superior live coverage of sports events. During The World Games 2021, ISB will coordinate the broadcasting of all events, offering fans across the globe a front-row seat for all of the action taking place.
This month, International Sports Broadcasting (ISB) and Swiss Timing joined representatives from The International World Games Association and the Birmingham Organizing Committee for a planning meeting in Birmingham, less than two years ahead of the start of The Games.
Over the course of five days, the teams visited all of the proposed venues for The World Games 2021, exploring many diverse areas around the city. The guests were also introduced to Southern American culture by sampling dishes at popular local restaurants and by playing a few friendly frames of bowling after a full day of meetings.
“Hosting ISB and Swiss Timing in Birmingham this month was a pleasure,” said DJ Mackovets, CEO of The World Games 2021 Birmingham Organizing Committee. “We look forward to continuing our work together over the next two years, and are sure that athletes, coaches and fans will be thrilled with the quality of their efforts.”
As the week closed, the teams gathered to discuss next steps ahead of The World Games 2021. Topics included the finalization of production schedules, details around athlete accreditation, discussion around the logistics of filming live television, and continuing the coordination of timing and scoring operations to ensure the best possible experience for competing athletes.
By the end of the final meeting, one thing was clear: all of the partners were equally passionate about the event, and were certain that, through collaboration and hard work, The World Games 2021 would find success.
