The World Games, first held in 1981, is an international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that are not contested in the Olympic Games.

While originally scheduled for July 2021, due to the adjustment of the Tokyo Olympic Games, The World Games Birmingham will be held July 7 – 17, 2022.

The Games will take place at 30 venues throughout the Greater Birmingham Metropolitan Area.

The sports program for The World Games 2021 was announced by the International World Games Association (IWGA) in 2018 and includes 32 sports.

Any person who is 18 years of age at the start of The Games (July 7, 2022). We invite young people, adults, and seniors to join us.

The next edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama USA, 7-17 July 2022.

The International Federations that govern each of the sports are responsible for the qualification process in which they will qualify their athletes or teams to compete in The World Games.  In most cases, it is necessary to qualify by a top ranking at the world championships or a qualification tournament to be able to participate that is governed by an International Federation for that sport.
