History of Softball
Softball is a team sport that is a variation of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Each base is 60 feet and the entire infield is dirt. The game moves at a faster pace than traditional baseball. Each softball team has 9 players. The game takes place over 7 innings and within each inning the team will bat then field. The object of the game is to score more runs (points) than the other team by batting (hitting) a ball into play and running around the bases, touching each one in succession. In each inning, a team bats until three batters have been put out.
